Awarded European Museum of the Year in 2008, the impressive building design, welcoming staff and diverse collection of Estonian art make KUMU well worth a visit by art lovers. I particularly enjoyed the permanent exhibit ‘Conflict and Adaptations: Estonian Art of the Soviet Era 1940 – 1991’, the current exhibition of Michel Sittow’s work (the first solo exhibition of this Estonian painter’s work – a collaboration between the Art Museum of Estonia and the National Gallery of Washington) and the exterior artwork.
