BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art


Recently enjoyed my first visit to this great contemporary art venue, which sees the exhibitions housed in an impressive renovated flour mill on the south bank of the River Tyne. With 2,600 square metres of art space, this is the UK’s largest dedicated contemporary art institution. Four exhibitions were on display, demonstrating how eclectic contemporary art can be: 2017’s Turner Prize winner Lubaina Himid ‘Our Kisses are Petals’; Serena Korda ‘Missing Time’; Jasmina Cibic ‘This Machine Builds Nations’ and Idea of North – and a hidden Space Invader mosaic can be found on the stairs.
